GrandTech to Launch its Cloud Services in 2017 Targeting the Asia-Pacific Market as the Company’s 25th Anniversary Milestone

GrandTech Cloud Services is the NT$100 Million New Venture to Serve Enterprises in the Greater Asia-Pacific Market for “Cloud-Native Applications”

[5th September, 2017, Taipei] GrandTech C.G. Systems Inc. (TPEx: 6123) is the leading provider of value-added digital services in professional software and hardware solutions for the Asia-Pacific region in over twenty years. GrandTech today announces its Asia-Pacific strategy in “professional cloud services” and the investment of NT$100 million into the new business venture, GrandTech Cloud Services, to serve customers in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia with “Cloud-Native Applications” powered by the key technology partner of Amazon Web Services.

Creating the “Cloud Services” Eco-System for the Asia-Pacific Region

GrandTech is well-recognized in the industry for its expertise in the distribution of major creative software suits, including Adobe, Autodesk, and Unity, since its establishment in 1991. In recent years, it is progressively transitioning to the cloud services while also continuously working with key international partners. According to the 2017 update to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Semiannual Public Cloud Services Spending Guide , the Asia-Pacific region has seen the most significant growth in public cloud services to shoot up the global ranks, now ranking third behind the United States and Western European markets. The market for public cloud services in the Asia-Pacific region will exceed US$10 billion in 2017 and GrandTech recognizes this tremendous growth and business opportunity to be serving the Asia-Pacific clients up in the “clouds.” Frank Hsu, Founding Chairman and CEO of GrandTech Group, has said that with GrandTech’s 25 years of market experience under their belt, they have faced challenges of the relatively smaller market in Taiwan and the lack of international experience for innovative software contents, brand recognition, and expanded operation. GrandTech has identified the advantages of “cloud services” for the digital industry, and has thus initiated the first phase of cloud services with Adobe in 2013, while the subsequent phase of the project will be deployed in 2017 to strategically bring the “professional cloud services” into the Asia-Pacific markets. GrandTech has officially announced its transition from a distributor of software to the world-class provider of cloud services. To this end, the company is investing NT$ 100 million in the new company, GrandTech Cloud Services, to provide enterprise customers in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region with forward-thinking roadmaps and local technical support for integrated professional cloud services and accelerated convergence with the global markets.

Key Technology Partnership with AWS Marks the New “Value-Added” Milestone

According to the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Index , Taiwan is ranked 16th worldwide based on the overall GEI score and second in Asia. However, Taiwan was scored as less competitive for individual categories in opportunity startup, technology absorption, human capital, and competition – suggesting that new startups are less likely to be able to establish their unique foothold in the smaller and highly competitive market in Taiwan.

GrandTech’s 25 years of local expertise in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia has provided customers with even more forward-looking product roadmaps and services. In recent years, the company has progressively introduced the cloud platform and technology from leading international providers to further provide customers with the complete transition and innovative services to the cloud.

GrandTech today announces Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its key global partner to provide market-leading, technology-leading, and cost-effective cloud services for the Taiwan and Asia-Pacific customers. Coupled with GrandTech’s local expertise in the Asia-Pacific markets, AWS will provide customers with high-quality technical services and a strong platform to help with their digital transition and explosive growth across industries. It is a great milestone in the 25 years of the GrandTech Group.

“We are delighted in having GrandTech on the AWS network to provide the value-added services for customers in the Asia-Pacific region,” said David Yeh, GM, Ecosystem Partners, Greater China Region at Amazon Web Services. “AWS is the market-leading, technology-leading, and global-reaching cloud-based service platform that fits together with GrandTech’s great customer-base and precise marketing expertise for the Asia-Pacific region. We are in full support of GrandTech’s cloud deployment strategy and we believe that their years of local expertise will bring more advantageous cloud-based services to the Greater China and even further into the Asia-Pacific regions.”

GrandTech Cloud Services Bringing Future Innovation to the Asia-Pacific Region: Mobile Application, Gaming, New Retail, and Learning

For the past 25 years, GrandTech has not only demonstrated local success in the digital contents industry, but has also focused on the four innovative categories of mobile application, gaming, new retail, and learning aimed at the future development of cloud-based services.

For CyberLink’s mobile app subsidiary Perfect Corp., gaming platform provider Net Publishing, new retail platform 91APP, and learning platform provider BoniO Inc., GrandTech is looking to provide these four key strategic partners with shared integrated resources to be able to quickly react to the global market and the tremendous business opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region. GrandTech will provide specific marketing and strategic investment recommendations for the partners in each of the individual regions.

Focusing on the Innovative Business Services and Cultivating New Entrepreneurs

GrandTech’s initial phase of strategic transition occurred from 2013 to 2015 with multi-project mergers and acquisitions to supplement the company’s existing software distribution services and lay down a solid foundation for the cloud services. Frank Hsu said that with the years of industry experience in digital contents, GrandTech will focus on the customers with demand for “Cloud-Native Applications” in the industry. With the maturity of the creative contents industry in Taiwan, GrandTech Cloud Services will be shifting focus on the key industries of gaming, multimedia, new retail, and creative design armed with soft power and huge potentials in Taiwan.

Frank Hsu believes that the digital contents industry in Taiwan will have considerable opportunity to advance on the global scale if there is a good technology platform and local support. Therefore, Hsu expects that GrandTech Cloud Services will become the strong support for new entrepreneurs through its border-crossing platform and local services, where the new businesses will be provided with the opportunity to shine internationally and steadily expand onto the global market without borders.
