Media Converters, Extenders & NIDs

The leader in media conversion technologies for 30 years, Transition Networks offers a complete line of products enabling you to evolve any network – in any application – in any environment. We provide managed, secure, and flexible solutions to integrate Ethernet and TDM over fiber, taking advantage of the bandwidth, distance and security of a fiber infrastructure without a complete network overhaul. We also provide versatile options to extend Ethernet and provide power over your existing cabling infrastructure, regardless of the cable type, speeding up time to service, reducing the cost of re-cabling, and eliminating the need for adding new cabling to provide power to network edge devices.

Our complete systems, including the ION Multi-Service Integration Platform, bring chassis-based simplicity for integrating multiple services in your network. The ION Platform is supported by a full range of compact stand-alone media converter devices including, our mini media converter – one of the smallest form factor remote systems anywhere. In addition to media conversion, select stand-alone devices also provide Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)delivery and extension of data and power to the remote networking equipment.

Network Switches

Transition Networks’ multi-port managed and unmanaged switches are designed to withstand enterprise or hardened applications. Our full line of network switches support multiple applications including a complete offering of Power-over-Ethernet (PoE/PoE+) options. Flexible port counts; 2, 4816, and 24 port options facilitate ease of network maintenance with unique Auto Power Reset (APR) functionality.

For more PoE injector options, see PoE Media Converters & Injectors

Network Adapters

Add a new device to a data network using one of our many types of network adapters that provide connectivity for standard desktop PCs, laptops, and tablets. Our wide assortment of network adapters allow you to bring a building’s fiber backbone all the way to the desktop in Fiber-to-the-Desk (FTTD) applications, offering the advantages of higher bandwidth transmission over longer distances with more security than copper or wireless transmission. Our complete line of embedded devices, built on network interface card (NIC) standards, includes PCMCIA, ExpressCard, PCI and PCIe NICs. We also offer innovative USB-to-fiber Ethernet adapters for providing an optical interface to portable devices like laptops and tablets, and M.2 fiber Ethernet adapters which provide fiber connectivity to smaller devices such as micros, minis, and thin clients.

Optical Devices

Transition Networks offers a full line of small form factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers and passive coarse wave division multiplexing (CWDM) filters. Our SFPs support all of our media converters and switches, as well as other media converters that leverage the industry standard MSA design.

Accessories

We offer a wide variety of network accessories to assist and improve our products’ performance and to simplify installation. Ranging from DIN rail mounts and power supplies to cables and fans, we have what companies need for a complete networking solution.

Enterprise / Government Connectivity

With over 20 years of growth and expertise in hardware manufacturing, Transition Networks offers the ability to affordably integrate the benefits of fiber optics into any data network – in any application – in any environment. Offering support for multiple protocols, any interface, and a multitude of hardware platforms; Transition’s portfolio gives you the power to deliver and manage your network traffic reliably over fiber

Transition Networks is the leader in media conversion technology; offering a wide array of products including Ethernet, Fast Ethernet (FX and SX), Gigabit Ethernet, 10G, 10/100 rate converters, T1/E1, DS3, OC3, OC12, RS485, V.35, Token Ring, POE and more. Our Point System chassis provides users with manageability, reliability, and future proofing. The Point System offers fully SNMP compliant read/write software including web-based management. The chassis also provides for redundant management, redundant power (AC or DC), converters that can be upgraded in the field, and more.

Service Provider Solution

As an active participant in the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) IEEE and other standards bodies, Transition offers a full line of MEF-compliant Ethernet Network Interface Devices (NIDs) both in stand-alone, chassis based, fixed or SFP optical ports. Designed for Metro Ethernet and mobile backhaul, Transitions family of NIDs are available in a variety of port counts, redundant AC/DC power options, Link OAM or full Service OAM (802.3ah, 802.1ag, Y.1731) and integrated Layer 2 features including full VLAN support, double tagging (Q-in-Q – IEEE 802.1ad) and bandwidth allocation to limit both ingress/egress traffic. Designed for networks that require strong security (SSH/SSL, RADIUS, ACL) and advanced troubleshooting, Transitions network interface devices are designed for achieving best-in-class Ethernet services.

For Metro-Ethernet and Corporate Enterprise WAN/MAN deployments requiring circuit aggregation of fiber links trunked into >1G-40G uplink ports, Transition’s all fiber SFP/XFP aggregation switches are available in a variety of different models with advanced carrier-class features to choose including 802.3ah L-OAM and 802.1ag CFM standards. Designed for carrier grade business class Ethernet services

Industrial Networking

Transition Networks' extensive industrial portfolio includes media converters, unmanaged and managed switches, including Power-over-Ethernet enabled, serial device servers, power supplies and SFP modules designed to meet the most stringent requirements in factory and process control industries.

Media Converters
A wide range of converters includes both panel and DIN rail mounting options, redundant and wide-range DC power supply inputs, fault relay outputs, rugged metal enclosures, extended operating temperature ranges and a fanless design.

Support for industry standard IEEE 802.1P priority-of-service and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN; port-based security; MAC address management; STP and RSTP, as well as Transition Networks' X-Ring protocols, offering Redundant Ring Switching and Failover in less than 20 ms; IGMP to support Ethernet/IP applications; SNMP, Telnet, Console and Web-based management interfaces; and remote firmware and configuration backup/restore capabilities.

Security Networking

Video and access security applications rely on cables to transport videos and information from one place to another. The choice of cable technology – coaxial, twisted pair or fiber optics – directly affects the quality, capabilities and reliability of the applications.

Media Conversion
Many applications combine various cable technology techniques. Media converters bridge the gap between legacy copper infrastructures and fiber expansion. As a result, they can cost-effectively extend the life of non-fiber based equipment while expanding the distance of an existing network or between two devices.

Media converters enable you to leverage evolving technology, including burgeoning IP Ethernet networks, to ensure you can see everything, including lower OpEx costs throughout your network. Transition Networks device servers convert RS signals to Ethernet to provide efficient, cost-effective access control for a wide range of organizations and applications. RS media converters transport data over fiber networks for maximum distance while establishing a path for Ethernet in the future. Ethernet copper to fiber converters transport data over extended distances without quality hindering interference. The devices also use Ethernet copper to fiber converters to supply Power over Ethernet (PoE) for advanced access control systems
